General Questions
What areas does Green Comfort Systems serve? +
We serve the Greater Baltimore metro — Rosedale, Baltimore, Towson, Parkville, Perry Hall, Middle River, Dundalk, Essex, Catonsville, Glen Burnie, Severna Park, Annapolis, Bel Air, Columbia, Ellicott City, and the surrounding communities across Baltimore, Anne Arundel, Harford, and Howard counties. Not sure if you're in our area? Give us a call and we'll let you know.
Are you licensed and insured? +
Yes. We hold a Maryland HVAC Master License (#78268), plus Harford County (#1655-2019) and Anne Arundel County (#D1006212) contractor licenses, and our technicians are EPA Section 608 Universal certified. We're fully licensed, insured, and every technician is background-checked.
What makes Green Comfort Systems 'eco-friendly'? +
Sustainability is the reason we exist. We specialize in high-efficiency heat pumps, smart thermostats, and advanced air purification — solutions that lower your energy use and shrink your environmental footprint. We also recycle responsibly, host monthly park clean-ups, and fund Maryland conservation work through the Green Legacy Initiative.
Do you offer free estimates? +
Replacement consultations are free. We’ll assess your home and give you a written flat-rate quote before any work begins. Repair diagnostics are not free — that visit is a paid diagnostic, and you get the price before we start.
Pricing & Financing
How does your flat-rate pricing work? +
We quote every job up front at a flat rate — no hourly surprises and no hidden fees. You'll know the full price before we start, so you can decide with complete confidence.
Do you offer financing? +
Yes. We offer flexible financing through GreenSky, with options including 0% APR promotions and low monthly payments for qualified customers. You can apply in minutes — visit our Financing page or ask your comfort advisor.
What is the Green Guardian Club? +
The Green Guardian Club is our preventative maintenance agreement — one plan, not a tiered menu. Members get two seasonal visits scheduled proactively (spring cooling, fall heating), priority scheduling on the days everyone else is calling at once, documented findings with the actual readings, and the maintenance record most manufacturer warranties require. Current pricing is confirmed at enrollment.
Service & Repairs
How fast can you get to me? +
During regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM) we dispatch as quickly as availability allows, and Green Guardian Club members get front-of-line priority scheduling. For urgent issues, call us and we'll get a technician headed your way as soon as we can.
Is a heat pump a good fit for Maryland winters? +
Absolutely. Modern cold-climate heat pumps stay efficient well below freezing and handle Maryland winters comfortably while using far less energy than a gas furnace. We'll size and recommend the right system for your home.
How often should I have my system maintained? +
We recommend two tune-ups a year — one for cooling in spring and one for heating in fall. Regular maintenance keeps efficiency high, prevents breakdowns, and is often required to keep your manufacturer warranty valid.
Can you help improve my indoor air quality? +
Yes. We install whole-home air purifiers, high-MERV filtration, and humidity control, and we seal leaky ducts that pull in dust and waste energy. Cleaner air and a more efficient system go hand in hand.
Heat Pumps & Comfort
Do heat pumps work when it is cold outside? +
Yes, modern heat pumps produce heat in cold weather — but how well depends on the specific equipment, how it is sized, the controls, and the house itself. Rather than make a blanket claim, we show you the manufacturer’s performance data for the exact system we are proposing, at the temperatures we actually get here.
Why doesn't heat-pump air feel as hot as gas-furnace air? +
Because it usually isn’t as hot. A heat pump runs longer at a lower supply-air temperature; a gas furnace delivers shorter bursts of much hotter air. The room lands at the same temperature either way — what changes is how it feels at the register. Sizing, airflow and controls decide whether that reads as steady comfort or as a draft.
Will backup electric heat make my bill expensive? +
Auxiliary electric heat does use more electricity while it runs. How often it runs depends on the equipment, the outdoor temperature, the controls, how the system was sized, and the building. We won’t promise you a bill amount — that depends on too many things we can’t see from here.
What is your best heat-pump option? +
The Goodman Side Discharge inverter system is currently our top-selling and primary-focus replacement option. Final equipment selection still depends on your home and the project.
Do you install Trane? +
Yes. Our primary focus is Goodman and Daikin, but we can offer Trane when you specifically want an alternative.
Do you service all HVAC brands? +
There is no brand we categorically refuse to service. Specific equipment and application limits still apply — we’ll tell you on the phone if something is outside what we handle.
Repair or Replace
Should I replace my HVAC system because it is ten years old? +
Not automatically. We don’t recommend replacement on age alone. If a reasonable repair restores operation, repair is often still the right call.
When does repairing an HVAC system stop making sense? +
The main factor is when the repair cost becomes a substantial share of replacement cost — especially where reliability is already a concern or more major repairs look likely. The decision should weigh the actual repair, the equipment’s condition, your comfort goals, and what replacement would involve.
Why does HVAC repair cost more than the part costs online? +
The part is one line in the job. Professional repair pricing covers diagnosis, skilled labour, stocked inventory, travel, training, tools, insurance, overhead, and warranty responsibility for the finished repair. Researching the part is a reasonable thing to do — it just isn’t the same number.
AI says my HVAC repair should cost less. Why? +
Online and AI estimates generally don’t know your exact equipment, the actual diagnosis, access conditions, local labour costs, or who carries the warranty afterwards. They’re a reasonable starting point, but the job can only be priced accurately after a real diagnosis.
Availability & Membership
Do you offer 24/7 emergency HVAC service? +
No, and we’d rather say so plainly. Our office hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. After hours you can leave a voicemail and we may be able to find an available technician, but there is no on-call rotation and no guaranteed response time.
Do maintenance members get free after-hours service? +
No. Members still pay the applicable service-call and after-hours labour charges, with the membership discount applied to qualifying charges.
Is HVAC maintenance worth it? +
The honest case for it: fewer breakdowns, a documented record of your system’s condition, an ongoing relationship with a contractor who knows your equipment, priority on the schedule, and enough warning to plan a replacement instead of being surprised by one.
What commercial HVAC systems do you work on? +
Light commercial, generally under 15 tons — offices and strip retail are the typical fit. Refrigeration and complex BACnet or VAV control platforms are not work we take on. Restaurants are worth a conversation first, since the need there is often refrigeration.
Rebates & Financing
Do you offer HVAC rebates? +
We participate in utility rebate programs, including BGE-related programs, and we help identify which incentives apply to your project. Program details and amounts change, so we confirm current eligibility at the time of purchase rather than quoting a figure from memory.
Do you finance HVAC replacement? +
Yes. Current options include GreenSky for installations and the Maryland Clean Energy Advantage program for eligible projects. Terms are verified at the time we quote.
Do you finance repairs? +
Yes — we currently use Affirm for service and repair financing.
How much does HVAC replacement cost? +
It depends on the system, the home, and the scope, and we’d rather give you a real number than a range that doesn’t fit your house. Replacement consultations are free, and any net price involving rebates comes with the assumptions and eligibility stated in writing.
